FAQs

At HikoTerra, we’re committed to making advanced energy solutions simple, reliable, and accessible. Whether you're exploring our marine power systems, curious about installation, or looking for support, our FAQ section is here to help.

01

Capacity

What is the maximum system inverter capacity?

20kW or two inverters in single phase or 30kW or three inverters in 3 phase.

Can I install a 5kW inverter and 10kW inverter into the same system if I require 15kW?

Yes.

What is the maximum system charger capacity?

3 chargers per system, for example if you had 3 phase shore power.

2 chargers each in single phase is also supported, incase the user has 2 shore power inputs.

What is the maximum battery capacity?

12 batteries in one system, so a total of 96kWh.

How scalable is the system?

The rack supports up to 16 slots, allowing configurations from 5kW to 30kW inverter capacity and up to 96kWh battery storage.

02

Compliance

What standards does the system comply with?

The system will meet EN 62109-1 & 2, EN-IEC 60945, ABYC, CE, and UN38.3 transport standards. Keep an eye on our website for compliance updates.

03

Configuration

What is the maximum number of rack slots?

16 total rack slots, 2 high by 8 wide is the maximum configuration available.

Can I add additional rack slots after installation?

No, you cannot add additional slots one the rack in manufactured. However you can leave slots empty at installation if the customer wants to have some space for future expansion. For efficiency and reliability the rack contains continuous copper sheets, these cannot be joined.

Are there any rules or limitations to where modules need to be mounted on the rack?

Yes, in a 2 high configuration the chargers & inverters must be placed on the lower slots, batteries can go on either lower or upper slots. Ideally the inverter & charger get placed towards the middle of a row.

Do I need an isolation transformer with HikoTerra?

No. The intelligent battery charger includes a built-in isolation transformer, eliminating the need for a separate unit.

Is the system compatible with solar input?

Yes. The inverter includes built-in solar input with up to 250A charge current and 100V DC input. An MPPT regulator may be required, depending on solar configuration.

Can the system operate without a generator?

Yes. In many cases, the generator can be removed or downsized. The system can run appliances from batteries and alternators alone, plus solar input helps keep batteries charged.

Can I use other batteries in the system?

No, only HikoTerra batteries are supported.

04

Connectivity

How do I control or monitor the system?

The system supports NMEA2000, Ethernet, USB, and fibre optic connections for integration with MFDs and remote monitoring.

05

How to buy

How do I buy a H4 hybrid power system?

We are working to establish a distribution network now, please sign up to our newsletter and keep checking our website for updates.

How much the does the system cost?

Cost will be dependant on configuration. System costs will be inline with existing power electronics systems, however installation time & costs can be reduced by up to 50%.

06

Installation

What makes HikoTerra installation process faster than traditional systems?

HikoTerra integrated rack system reduces install time by up to 50% by minimizing components, cabling, and external connections. Modules are plug-and-play and require fewer mounting steps.

07

Operation

How is AC power delivered on board?

All AC power is delivered via the inverter from the batteries, either standalone or in parallel with the generator, ensuring clean and stable power at all times.

Can the system run appliances while charging from shore power?

Yes. Appliances are powered by the inverter, not directly from shore power, which ensures consistent performance even if shore voltage fluctuates.

How does the system handle shore power?

Shore power connects only to the battery charger, not directly to appliances, ensuring clean and stable power even during voltage drops.

How do I charge my engine or generator start batteries?

We suggest using a DC to DC converter of the correct voltage that includes a batterery charger function. The DC to DC converter can be powered from the H4 systems 24V DC output.

08

Service & Support

What happens if a battery module fails?

The system automatically disconnects the faulty battery from the rack, allowing continued operation with the remaining modules.

09

Warranty

What kind of warranty does HikoTerra offer?

All H⁴ Hybrid Power System components, including batteries, come with a 2-year warranty.
