HikoTerra to welcome summer interns

HikoTerra is pleased to welcome Matthew Smith & Leon Lei as their 2025 summer interns, thanks to the R&D Experience Grant facilitated by Callaghan Innovation.

Matthew is currently a student at Auckland University of Technology working towards his BE in Mechatronics and will be working on a project to develop the system monitoring capabilities of our integrated power system.

Leon is currently a student at the University Of Auckland competing a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Leon will carry out a thermal investigation of the 10kW Inverter module, a key component of PCNZL’s an innovative integrated hybrid power system.

The R&D Experience Grant was created to fund innovative businesses to employ tertiary-level students (NZQA levels 6-10) as full-time interns over their summer break, and help prepare them for their own innovative careers.

The aim is to create a new generation of Kiwi innovators, dreaming big and having a positive impact on Aotearoa New Zealand.
